The day began with the familiar rhythm of fitness. Yoga and aqua aerobics set the tone for another day of adventure: chasing the sunsets and dancing waves to enjoying the nightlife of Bali at the night beach club. After indulging in the resort’s vibrant activities, we set our sights on the iconic Tanah Lot temple.
Tanah Lot Temple
The journey to Tanah Lot temple held the promise of a breathtaking sunset, and the destination did not disappoint. The scene became a photographer’s dream as the sun descended, casting a warm glow over the temple and the crashing waves. Kids’ joy also knew no bounds, when they got all wet in the splashing water waves. Despite the crowd, a sense of calm and peace enveloped the area, making it a memorable Bali moment.
Cejak Dance Show: A Mixed Experience
In the temple’s serene surroundings, we attended the Cejak dance show depicting the Sita-haran scene from the Ramayana. However, the performance left us feeling underwhelmed, and the delay caused by the show led to a lonely, dark, and somewhat scary atmosphere around the temple. Navigating through the complex became a challenge, especially as we encountered resistance from locals against online taxi services.
Night Beach Club Adventure
Undeterred by the hiccups, we ventured to Finns, a renowned night beach club in the Uluwatu area. While the sunset clubs are famed for their lively atmosphere, our family adventure meant that we couldn’t fully partake in the excitement. Nevertheless, the tasty food and captivating ambience made it a worthwhile visit. Note to self: Sunset clubs are best enjoyed without kids.
Tips of the day:
- Plan to go to Tanha Lot around 3 p.m. to first explore the temple and then enjoy the sunset and rush to move to the exit. Don’t go to the Cejak dance show. It becomes very dark, scary and lonely there.
- At Tanha Lot the local people don’t allow online taxis to enter the premises, so plan accordingly.
- Night life especially the night beach clubs are awesome in Bali in the Ulluwatu and Kuta areas, but without kids. Well, kids are allowed in these places and it’s safe, but the true essence of the nightclubs, with their energetic ambience and electrifying entertainment, is best enjoyed in the company of fellow adults.
As the night unfolded, we reflected on the day’s mix of cultural encounters, sunset magic, and unexpected challenges. Bali continued to surprise us at every turn, reminding us that the true essence of travel lies in embracing both the anticipated and the unforeseen.
