18 July 2019, my little Harry Potter, turns 7 years old. What other gift could I give my son, who is a hardcore fan of Harry Potter than, creating a whole Hogwarts at home for him?
Oh! living our childhood again with our kids is every mom’s dream. I along with my son, am a big Potter head. It was crazy fun creating and living in the Potter world. From making the sorting hat to hanging candles, Falling hogwarts invitation letters to platform 9 3/4, and the luggage trunks that Harry carried to Hogwarts station, Harry’s pet owl, “Hedwig”, Hogwarts four houses banners, wall posters, forbidden forest, spiders crawling, the Chambers of Secret blood wall, everything I created at home by myself.
Food had all Hogwarts feast items “Professor Sprout’s Veggie Garden”, “Slytherin Snakes”, “Olivander’s Chocolate Wands”, “Huffle Puffs”, “Pumpkin Juice” and lots more. The cake was also all Harry Potter-themed chocolate cake. Ishaan’s friends loved the food and cake very much.
Games were based on the movie. We had Quidditch and Pin The Voldemort’s Nose games. For dividing the kids into groups, we assigned them Hogwarts houses using our Sorting Hat. That was another fun idea, which kids liked a lot. We had stars and planets gazing. Called a special knowledge person with his telescope, to show us Saturn, Jupiter, Moon and other stars. It was quite fun. The terrace, where star gazing was organized was given a forbidden forest look.
We had lots of Harry Potter props created for the photo booth. Ishaan’s friends and family got memorable pics clicked using those props. For return gifts, I grew plants that looked similar to the mandrake magic plant. I designed and printed the Mandrake plant labels to paste on the plant pots.
