This was always in my mind when I was a teenage girl. A small-town girl, growing up in an orthodox family, I was deprived of all the fun my friends used to have, who went to metro cities for further studies.
Since then I used to think, if I have a girl child, I’ll raise her in such a way, that she will be proud of herself and the lifestyle she lives. I m going to raise a girl, to be an Independent Woman.
A girl who is allowed to make her own decisions. She is broad-minded and wants to learn whatever she can and choose whatever career she wants. Will send her to a metro city, to a good college, where she will get a greater outlook and more and more sources to learn. Whose thinking and knowledge is not bound to a city or a country, but who has to compete worldwide. She will live in a hostel so that she learns to adjust, explore, manage money and other resources, become self-dependent. An ambitious girl, who should understand what is good and what is bad. She has lots of good and fun friends and enjoys her life to the fullest. Goes on trekking, camping, adventurous tours, discos and cafes, exploring the world, bold enough to travel alone, walk alone with confidence and push her limits.
Be an artist, a sportsperson and whatever interests her. Get a good job. Respect her job and do it sincerely. Be somebody very important. Earn good and be capable of paying her own bills instead of depending on her boyfriend or husband for doing it. He also earns to fulfil his own wishes. Why is it that always a man should buy gifts for the lady? She can also spend if she earns.
Along with that learn to cook and do all other household chores which are an integral part of life. Gain knowledge about healthy food. Eat healthily and keep herself fit by doing any sort of exercise. She should be strong enough to hold her own bags and walk on a sunny day. It’s not always the man’s duty to leave the seat for a citizen. She should not beg for equality but establish it.
Womanhood has its own beauty. There are so many good things that a man cannot have. The best one is, she can be a mother. Being a mother, I can say, it’s the best gift ever that I got. Women can wear makeup, so many varieties of outfits. She gets the privilege of “Ladies first” and people are more kind to girls than boys. Actually, my blog title should be, “Why do girls get so many privileges.”
I don’t have a daughter but 2 sons, but the same rules follow for them as well. I hope I raise them to be good people, respect women, a good citizens and responsible family men.
